Rasawala Bateta Nu Shaak

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger and garlic paste, and sauté for a minute. Then, add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
  3. Stir in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Add the cubed potatoes and mix until they are coated with the spice mixture. Add water as needed to create a gravy, cover the pan, and simmer until the potatoes are cooked through.
  5. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with roti or rice.
