Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Few curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida (hing)
- 2-3 cups water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the tamarind pulp with water and extract the juice.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, green chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté until the seeds splutter.
- Add turmeric powder, hing, and the tamarind extract. Bring it to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add salt and mix well. Turn off the heat and let it cool.
- Once the tamarind mixture is at room temperature, pour it over the cooked rice and mix gently.
