Ingredients

  • 4 fillets of kingfish or pomfret
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 6-8 garlic cloves
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 2-3 green chilies
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Clean and wash the fish fillets. Pat them dry and make slits on both sides.
  2. In a blender, combine lemon juice, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, garlic, ginger, green chilies, tamarind paste, and salt. Blend into a smooth paste.
  3. Apply the spice paste to the fish fillets, making sure to coat them evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the fish fillets for 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden and crispy.
  5. Remove the fish from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve hot with steamed rice and a side of salad.
