Recheado (goan Fish Fry)
Recheado (Goan Fish Fry) is a popular dish from Goan cuisine, known for its spicy and tangy flavors. This dish is a perfect combination of fresh fish marinated in a flavorful spice paste and then pan-fried to perfection.
Ingredients
- 4 fillets of kingfish or pomfret
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 6-8 garlic cloves
- 1-inch ginger
- 2-3 green chilies
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Clean and wash the fish fillets. Pat them dry and make slits on both sides.
- In a blender, combine lemon juice, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, garlic, ginger, green chilies, tamarind paste, and salt. Blend into a smooth paste.
- Apply the spice paste to the fish fillets, making sure to coat them evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the fish fillets for 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden and crispy.
- Remove the fish from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with steamed rice and a side of salad.
