Ingredients
- 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 10 sheets phyllo dough
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, raisins, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
- Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean, dry surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Repeat with 4 more sheets, brushing each layer with butter.
- Sprinkle the top sheet with breadcrumbs.
- Spread the apple mixture over the breadcrumbs.
- Roll up the phyllo dough and apple filling, tucking in the sides as you go, to form a strudel.
- Transfer the strudel to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, seam side down.
- Brush the top of the strudel with the remaining melted butter.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the strudel is golden brown and crispy.
- Let the strudel cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar.
