Rice and Lentil Dumplings, also known as Crispy Paniyaram, are a popular South Indian snack that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This recipe is a delicious way to enjoy the flavors of South Indian cuisine.
Ingredients
- 1 cup idli rice
- 1/2 cup split black lentils (urad dal)
- 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- Salt to taste
- Oil for greasing and frying
Instructions
- Wash and soak the rice, lentils, and fenugreek seeds in water for 4-5 hours.
- Drain the water and grind the mixture into a smooth batter. Add salt and mix well.
- Add the chopped onion, green chilies, and cilantro to the batter and mix until well combined.
- Heat the paniyaram pan and grease each mold with oil.
- Pour the batter into the molds and cook until the bottom is golden brown. Flip and cook the other side until crispy.
- Remove the dumplings from the pan and serve hot with chutney or sambar.
