Rice Chicha, also known as Chicha de Arroz, is a traditional Venezuelan beverage made from rice, milk, and spices. It is a creamy and sweet drink that is perfect for enjoying on a hot day or as a refreshing dessert.

Rice Chicha (chicha De Arroz)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ground cinnamon, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the rice, water, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the rice is very soft.
  3. Remove the cinnamon stick and discard.
  4. Transfer the rice and any remaining water to a blender. Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
  5. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.
  6. Chill the rice chicha in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
  7. To serve, pour the chicha into glasses and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
