Rice Chicha (chicha De Arroz)
Rice Chicha, also known as Chicha de Arroz, is a traditional Venezuelan beverage made from rice, milk, and spices. It is a creamy and sweet drink that is perfect for enjoying on a hot day or as a refreshing dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white rice
- 4 cups water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Ground cinnamon, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the rice, water, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the rice is very soft.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and discard.
- Transfer the rice and any remaining water to a blender. Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
- Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.
- Chill the rice chicha in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
- To serve, pour the chicha into glasses and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
