Rihaakuru Mas (spicy Fish Curry)

Ingredients

  • 500g fish fillets, cut into cubes
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes and green chilies. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  4. Stir in the turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Cook for 2 minutes to release the flavors.
  5. Add the fish cubes and gently mix with the spice mixture.
  6. Pour in the coconut milk and season with salt. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until the fish is cooked through and the curry has thickened.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
