Risa Bai Chutney (spiced Tomato Dip)

Ingredients

  • 5 ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add green chilies, grated ginger, and chopped tomatoes. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  3. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool. Once cooled, blend the mixture to a smooth paste.
  5. Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl and serve with your favorite dishes.
