Risa Bai Rasam is a traditional spiced tomato soup from Tripuri Cuisine that is known for its comforting and aromatic flavors. This simple yet flavorful soup is perfect for a cozy evening or as a starter for a meal.
Ingredients
- 4 large tomatoes, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tablespoon ghee (clarified butter) or oil
Instructions
- Heat ghee or oil in a pot and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, black pepper, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes turn soft.
- Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
