Riz Gras (fried Rice With Smoked Meat)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of long-grain white rice
  • 1 pound of smoked meat, diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and drain well.
  2. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the diced smoked meat and cook until browned.
  3. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
  4. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and paprika. Cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes break down.
  5. Add the washed rice to the pot and stir to combine with the meat and vegetables.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
