Roast Pork Wonton Soup (pernil Wonton Soup)
This Roast Pork Wonton Soup, also known as Pernil Wonton Soup, combines the flavors of Puerto Rican and Chinese cuisines for a unique and delicious dish.
Ingredients
- 1 pound roast pork (pernil), shredded
- 1 package wonton wrappers
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup sliced bok choy
- 1/2 cup sliced scallions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a simmer.
- While the broth is simmering, prepare the wontons by placing a small amount of shredded roast pork in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold and seal the wontons.
- Add the bok choy, scallions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ground ginger to the simmering broth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Gently drop the wontons into the broth and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
- Serve the soup hot, garnished with additional scallions if desired.
