Roasted Cottage Cheese (Chhena Poda) is a traditional dessert from the Indian state of Odisha. It is made with fresh cottage cheese, sugar, and cardamom, and then roasted to perfection, resulting in a caramelized crust and a soft, creamy interior.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh cottage cheese (chhena)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 2 tablespoons semolina (sooji)
- 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cottage cheese, sugar, cardamom powder, and semolina. Mix well.
- Grease a baking dish with ghee and transfer the cottage cheese mixture into it.
- Smooth the top and drizzle some ghee over the mixture.
- Bake for 1 hour or until the top turns golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool.
- Slice and serve the roasted cottage cheese (chhena poda).
