Roasted Gram Flour Dumplings (sattu Litti)
Roasted Gram Flour Dumplings, also known as Sattu Litti, is a traditional dish from Jharkhandi Cuisine. These flavorful dumplings are made with roasted gram flour and are typically served with chokha (mashed vegetables) and tangy tamarind chutney.
Ingredients
- 2 cups roasted gram flour (sattu)
- 1 cup wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- 2 tablespoons ghee for brushing
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together roasted gram flour, wheat flour, carom seeds, ghee, ginger, green chili, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
- Add water gradually and knead into a firm dough. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape them into round dumplings.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Place the dumplings on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Brush the hot dumplings with ghee for a glossy finish.
- Serve the roasted gram flour dumplings with chokha and tamarind chutney.
