Roasted Peking Duck Delight (烤北京鸭美味)
Peking duck is a classic dish in Hong Kong cuisine, known for its crispy skin and succulent meat. This recipe will guide you through the process of making a delicious roasted Peking duck at home.
Ingredients
- 1 whole Peking duck
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- Salt to taste
- 4 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 cucumber, cut into matchsticks
- 16 small Chinese pancakes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, Chinese five-spice powder, garlic, and ginger to make the marinade.
- Rub the duck inside and out with salt, then pour the marinade over the duck, making sure to coat it evenly. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
- Place the duck on a rack in a roasting pan and roast in the preheated oven for 1 hour, basting every 20 minutes with the marinade.
- Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C) and roast for an additional 30 minutes to crisp up the skin.
- Remove the duck from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
- Serve the carved duck with green onions, cucumber, and Chinese pancakes.
