Roasted Pork with Dumplings and Sauerkraut (Pečené bravčové s haluškami a kapustou)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg pork shoulder
  • 500g halušky (dumplings)
  • 500g sauerkraut
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt, pepper, and caraway seeds.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large ovenproof pot over medium-high heat. Sear the pork shoulder on all sides until golden brown.
  4. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the pot, and cook until softened.
  5. Spread the sauerkraut around the pork shoulder in the pot.
  6. Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven. Roast for 2 hours, or until the pork is tender and cooked through.
  7. Cook the halušky according to the package instructions.
  8. Serve the roasted pork with the halušky and sauerkraut. Enjoy!
