Romanian Beef Stroganoff (Stroganoff de Vită)
Stroganoff de Vită, also known as Romanian Beef Stroganoff, is a classic dish in Romanian cuisine. This creamy and savory beef dish is perfect for a comforting meal with family and friends.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the same skillet. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their liquid and become golden brown.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for a few minutes.
- Stir in the sour cream and return the cooked beef to the skillet. Cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
