Romanian Beef Stroganoff (Stroganoff de Vită)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the same skillet. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their liquid and become golden brown.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for a few minutes.
  5. Stir in the sour cream and return the cooked beef to the skillet. Cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
