Romanian Cherry Strudel (Strudel cu Cireşe)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pitted cherries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 6 phyllo pastry sheets
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the pitted cherries, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Place one phyllo pastry sheet on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter. Sprinkle with bread crumbs.
  4. Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets, stacking them on top of each other.

  6. Roll the phyllo stack with the cherry filling into a log, tucking in the edges as you roll.
