Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the eggs and sour cream to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat disc, then make a small indentation in the center of each disc.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the sweet cheese and vanilla extract. Spoon the cheese mixture into the center of each dough disc.
  5. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the papanași in batches until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the papanași from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
  7. Serve the papanași warm, topped with sour cream and jam.
