Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup sweet cheese (such as farmer's cheese or ricotta)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying

Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the eggs and sour cream to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat disc, then make a small indentation in the center of each disc.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the sweet cheese and vanilla extract. Spoon the cheese mixture into the center of each dough disc.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the papanași in batches until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the papanași from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the papanași warm, topped with sour cream and jam.
