Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup short-grain rice
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon rosewater
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the rice, milk, sugar, and salt.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring frequently.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the pudding simmer gently for 45-50 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice is tender and the mixture has thickened.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the rosewater.
  5. Divide the pudding into serving dishes and sprinkle with ground cinnamon and slivered almonds, if desired.
  6. Chill the sütlaç in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
