Roti John Fiesta
Roti John Fiesta is a popular Singaporean street food that is perfect for a quick and delicious meal. It is a unique sandwich made with a savory omelette mixture stuffed inside a baguette, then pan-fried until crispy and golden brown.
Ingredients
- 4 baguette rolls
- 8 eggs
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 200g minced meat (chicken, beef, or mutton)
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp chili sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the chopped onion, sliced bell pepper, minced meat, tomato ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, chili sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Cut the baguette rolls in half lengthwise, without cutting all the way through.
- Spread the egg mixture evenly on the cut side of the baguette rolls.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and add a knob of butter.
- Place the filled baguette rolls in the pan, egg side down, and cook until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
- Flip the Roti John and cook the other side until golden brown and the egg is fully cooked.
- Remove from the pan and let it cool for a minute before slicing and serving.
