Roti Prata Perfection
Roti Prata, also known as Roti Canai, is a popular Singaporean flatbread that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It is commonly enjoyed with curry or as a sweet treat with condensed milk or sugar.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup condensed milk
- 1/4 cup ghee or butter
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and sugar. Gradually add water and knead the dough until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape them into balls. Coat each ball with ghee or butter, then cover and let them rest for another 10 minutes.
- On a floured surface, flatten each ball into a thin circle. Stretch the dough as thin as possible without tearing it.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook each roti prata for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot with curry or condensed milk.
