Royal Bread Pudding, also known as Shahi Tukda, is a decadent Mughlai dessert that is fit for royalty. This rich and indulgent dish is made with bread, milk, sugar, and flavored with cardamom and saffron. It's a perfect way to end a lavish meal.

Royal Bread Pudding (shahi Tukda)

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of bread
  • 4 cups of whole milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A pinch of saffron strands
  • 2 tablespoons of ghee (clarified butter)
  • Silvered almonds and pistachios for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a deep pan, bring the milk to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add the sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron to the milk, and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes.
  3. Cut the bread slices into triangles and fry them in ghee until golden brown.
  4. Arrange the fried bread in a serving dish and pour the thickened milk over it.
  5. Garnish with silvered almonds and pistachios.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
