Royal Toast, also known as Fragrant Hyderabadi Shahi Tukda, is a rich and indulgent dessert from the royal city of Hyderabad. This dish is a perfect blend of Mughlai and Telugu cuisine, featuring bread soaked in saffron-infused milk, garnished with nuts, and drizzled with sugar syrup.
Ingredients
- 6 slices of bread
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon saffron strands
- 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
- Assorted nuts for garnish (almonds, pistachios, cashews)
Instructions
- In a pan, heat the ghee and fry the bread slices until golden brown. Set aside.
- In the same pan, heat the milk with saffron strands and sugar until it thickens slightly.
- Place the fried bread slices in a serving dish and pour the saffron milk over them.
- Garnish with assorted nuts.
- For the sugar syrup, heat 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 cup of sugar until it forms a thick syrup. Drizzle over the prepared Royal Toast.
