Ingredients

  • 1 cup white rice
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the rice and milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Stir in the sugar, cardamom, and cinnamon. Cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the mixture has thickened.
  3. If using, stir in the raisins and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let the rice pudding cool for a few minutes before serving.
