Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark rum

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and slice them in half lengthwise, then crosswise.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is bubbling.
  3. Add the bananas to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, gently turning once, until the bananas are caramelized and softened.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat. Carefully pour the rum over the bananas.
  5. Return the skillet to the stovetop and carefully ignite the rum with a long lighter. Let the flames burn out on their own.
  6. Serve the Bananes Flambées au Rhum immediately over vanilla ice cream.
