Ingredients
- 4 ripe bananas
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup dark rum
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Vanilla ice cream, for serving
Instructions
- Peel the bananas and slice them in half lengthwise, then crosswise.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is bubbling.
- Add the bananas to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, gently turning once, until the bananas are caramelized and softened.
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Carefully pour the rum over the bananas.
- Return the skillet to the stovetop and carefully ignite the rum with a long lighter. Let the flames burn out on their own.
- Serve the Bananes Flambées au Rhum immediately over vanilla ice cream.
