Saag Paneer (creamy Spinach And Paneer)
Saag Paneer is a classic Anglo-Indian dish featuring creamy spinach and chunks of paneer. This flavorful and nutritious dish is a staple in many Indian households and is perfect for vegetarians.
Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped spinach
- 200g paneer, cubed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil
Instructions
- Heat ghee or oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Then, add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates.
- Stir in the turmeric, red chili powder, and garam masala. Cook for a few minutes before adding the chopped spinach.
- Cook the spinach until wilted, then add the paneer cubes and salt. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Pour in the heavy cream and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes. Adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Serve the Saag Paneer hot with naan or rice.
