Sabzi Korma is a delicious Afghan dish that combines tender chicken with flavorful spinach in a rich and aromatic curry sauce. This recipe is a perfect way to enjoy the traditional flavors of Afghan cuisine at home.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cook for 1 minute.
- Add chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
- Stir in chopped tomato, coriander powder, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Whisk together yogurt and heavy cream, then add it to the pot. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add chopped spinach and cook until wilted.
- Simmer the curry for 10-15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
