Ingredients

  • 1 cup almonds, soaked overnight
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • Slivered almonds and pistachios for garnish

Instructions

  1. Peel the soaked almonds and blend them with 2 cups of water until smooth.
  2. Strain the almond mixture through a muslin cloth, extracting the almond milk into a bowl.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the remaining 2 cups of water with sugar, saffron threads, and cardamom powder.
  4. Once the sugar has dissolved and the mixture comes to a gentle boil, add the almond milk and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  6. Refrigerate the saffron almond milk for a few hours until chilled.
  7. Garnish with slivered almonds and pistachios before serving.
