Sagoti (malvani Style Fish Curry)
Sagoti is a traditional Malvani fish curry that is known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This dish is a staple in Malvani cuisine and is best enjoyed with steamed rice or crusty bread.
Ingredients
- 500g fish, cut into pieces
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tbsp Malvani masala
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- 2-3 green chilies
- 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 2-3 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Grind the grated coconut, onion, tomatoes, Malvani masala, turmeric powder, ginger, garlic, and green chilies to a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and add the ground paste. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add water to achieve the desired consistency for the curry and bring it to a boil.
- Gently add the fish pieces and simmer until the fish is cooked through.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or bread.
