Sajtos Rudak (hungarian Cheese Sticks)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2-3 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Add the cold butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Add the grated cheddar cheese and pulse until combined.
  3. While pulsing, gradually add the cold water until the dough comes together.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and shape it into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut it into strips about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long.
  7. Place the cheese sticks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  8. Let the cheese sticks cool for a few minutes before serving.
