Ingredients

  • 1 kg lamb, cut into chunks
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Add the diced tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  6. Now add the lamb chunks, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the lamb with the spices.
  7. Cover the pot and let the lamb cook on low heat for about 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala over the curry and cook for another 10 minutes.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or bread.
