Sakha Tukhum Kebabs (yakutian Lamb Kebabs)
Sakha Tukhum Kebabs, also known as Yakutian Lamb Kebabs, are a traditional dish from the Sakha Republic in Russia. These kebabs are made with succulent lamb marinated in flavorful spices and grilled to perfection, making them a popular choice for outdoor gatherings and celebrations.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs (700g) lamb, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 metal or soaked wooden skewers
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the chopped onion, minced garlic, ground cumin, paprika, ground coriander, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and olive oil.
- Add the lamb cubes to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto the skewers.
- Grill the kebabs for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired doneness.
- Remove the kebabs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
