Salo (ukrainian Garlic Bread)
Salo is a traditional Ukrainian garlic bread that is a staple in Cossack cuisine. This savory and aromatic bread is perfect for serving alongside hearty stews or enjoying on its own.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of crusty bread
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the loaf of bread into thick slices, without cutting all the way through the bottom crust.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture between the slices of the bread, ensuring it reaches all the way to the bottom.
- Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes, then open the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to crisp up the top.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
