Salona Gobn (spiced Cauliflower And Potato Curry)
Salona Gobn is a traditional Emirati dish featuring spiced cauliflower and potatoes in a rich and flavorful curry sauce. This hearty and aromatic dish is perfect for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 can (400ml) coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Add the ground turmeric, cumin, coriander, and chili powder to the pot. Stir well to coat the onions and garlic with the spices.
- Add the cauliflower florets and diced potatoes to the pot. Stir to combine with the spiced onion mixture.
- Pour in the coconut milk and stir to combine. Season with salt to taste.
- Cover the pot and let the curry simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the cauliflower and potatoes are tender.
- Once the vegetables are cooked through, remove the pot from the heat. Garnish the Salona Gobn with fresh cilantro before serving.
