Saltah (yemeni Spiced Lamb Stew)
Saltah is a traditional Yemeni spiced lamb stew that is bursting with flavor and warmth. This hearty dish is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a gathering with friends.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lamb, cut into chunks
- 2 onions, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp coriander
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the lamb over medium heat.
- Add the onions and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Stir in the tomatoes, green chilies, cumin, coriander, and turmeric.
- Pour in the water and season with salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
- Stir in the cilantro and parsley, and simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
