Salted Caramel Cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened for frosting
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup salted caramel sauce for frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  6. Stir in the salted caramel sauce until just combined.
  7. Spoon the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
  10. For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add the powdered sugar.
  11. Beat in the salted caramel sauce until smooth and creamy.
  12. Pipe or spread the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes.
  13. Drizzle each cupcake with additional salted caramel sauce and sprinkle with sea salt.
