Samak Mashwi (assyrian Grilled Fish)
Samak Mashwi, or Assyrian Grilled Fish, is a traditional dish from the Assyrian cuisine that features a flavorful and aromatic grilled fish. This dish is perfect for seafood lovers and is a great option for a healthy and delicious meal.
Ingredients
- 4 whole fish (such as sea bass or trout), cleaned and scaled
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lemon, sliced
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
- Make 3 diagonal cuts on each side of the fish and rub the marinade all over the fish, including inside the cavity.
- Place a slice of lemon inside each fish cavity.
- Grill the fish for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the flesh is opaque and easily flakes with a fork.
- Remove the fish from the grill and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
