Samak Mashwi (saudi Arabian Fish Curry)
Samak Mashwi is a traditional Saudi Arabian fish curry that is rich in flavor and spices. This dish is a staple in Saudi cuisine and is perfect for a hearty and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb white fish fillets
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 green chili, sliced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until softened.
- Add the minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Add the diced tomatoes and green chili. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Pour in the coconut milk and bring to a simmer.
- Gently add the fish fillets to the pan and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.
- Season with salt to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro.
