Sambal Goreng Tempeh (Spicy Tempeh Stir-Fry)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of tempeh, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons sambal oelek
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sliced onion, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  3. Add the tempeh cubes and cook until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  4. Stir in the sambal oelek, soy sauce, brown sugar, and tamarind paste, and mix well.
  5. Add the sliced bell peppers and cook for a few more minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  6. Season with salt to taste.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot.
