Ingredients

  • 500g fresh squid, cleaned and sliced into rings
  • 5 shallots, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 5 red chilies, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the shallots, garlic, and red chilies. Sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add the tomatoes, tamarind paste, sugar, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the squid and cook for another 10-15 minutes until the squid is tender.
  5. Serve hot with steamed rice.
