Ingredients
- 10 red chilies
- 5 bird's eye chilies
- 3 shallots
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 teaspoon shrimp paste (terasi)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Grind the red chilies, bird's eye chilies, shallots, and garlic in a mortar and pestle or food processor until smooth.
- Heat a small amount of oil in a pan and add the shrimp paste, stirring until fragrant.
- Add the ground chili mixture to the pan and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Stir in the sugar, lime juice, and salt, then remove from heat and let cool.
- Transfer the sambal to a serving dish and enjoy with your favorite dishes.
