Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground sumac
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package of pre-made pastry dough
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
- Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and cook until wilted. Season with sumac, cumin, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pastry dough and cut it into circles using a cookie cutter or a small bowl as a guide.
- Place a spoonful of the spinach mixture onto each circle of dough. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
- Place the pies on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let the pies cool slightly before serving.
