Sambusa (spicy Beef Samosas)
Sambusa, also known as spicy beef samosas, are a popular snack in Maasai cuisine. These delicious savory pastries are filled with seasoned ground beef and spices, then deep-fried until golden and crispy.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp coriander
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt to taste
- 20 samosa wrappers
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the pan and sauté until the onion is soft.
- Stir in the cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and salt. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the beef mixture from the heat and let it cool slightly.
- Take a samosa wrapper and place a spoonful of the beef filling in the center.
- Fold the wrapper over the filling to form a triangle, then seal the edges with a little water.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the sambusas until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the sambusas from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
