Samsa
Samsa is a delicious pastry filled with savory ingredients, popular in Central Asian and Middle Eastern cuisines.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 pound ground lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the water and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the ground lamb, onion, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, and cilantro until well combined.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle.
- Place a spoonful of the lamb mixture onto one half of each dough circle. Fold the other half over the filling and crimp the edges to seal.
- Place the samsas on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
