Sardinhas Grelhadas, or Portuguese Style Grilled Sardines, is a popular dish in Macanese cuisine. This simple and flavorful recipe is a staple during the summer months and is best enjoyed with a glass of chilled Vinho Verde.
Ingredients
- 8 fresh sardines, cleaned and gutted
- Sea salt
- Black pepper
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Season the sardines with salt and pepper, inside and out.
- In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, chopped parsley, and olive oil to make a marinade.
- Brush the sardines with the marinade, making sure to coat them evenly.
- Place the sardines on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks.
- Transfer the grilled sardines to a serving platter and garnish with lemon wedges.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
