Sate Ayam Bakar (grilled Chicken Skewers)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs chicken breast, cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, garlic, shallot, coriander, cumin, turmeric, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, and vegetable oil to create the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and coat them evenly. Let the chicken marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers.
  5. Grill the chicken skewers for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  6. Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
