Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken thighs, cut into cubes
  • 20 bamboo skewers, soaked in water
  • 4 shallots, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 red chilies, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine the shallots, garlic, red chilies, ground coriander, ground cumin, turmeric powder, brown sugar, vegetable oil, and salt. Blend into a smooth paste.
  2. In a bowl, marinate the chicken cubes with the spice paste for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  3. Thread the marinated chicken onto the soaked bamboo skewers.
  4. Heat a grill or a pan over medium heat. Grill or pan-fry the chicken skewers for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Serve the Sate Ayam Pedas Makassar hot with steamed rice and spicy peanut sauce.
