Sate Ayam Pedas (spicy Chicken Satay)
Sate Ayam Pedas, or Spicy Chicken Satay, is a popular dish in Sundanese cuisine. It features tender, marinated chicken skewers grilled to perfection and served with a spicy peanut sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into cubes
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 red chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup water
- Salt to taste
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the chicken, onion, garlic, red chilies, turmeric powder, coriander powder, coconut milk, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Marinate for at least 1 hour.
- Thread the marinated chicken onto the soaked skewers.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the chicken skewers for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through.
- While the chicken is grilling, make the peanut sauce by combining the peanut butter, water, and salt in a saucepan. Cook over low heat until the sauce thickens.
- Serve the grilled chicken skewers with the spicy peanut sauce.
