Sate Daging (beef Satay Skewers)
Sate Daging, or Beef Satay Skewers, is a popular dish in East Timor cuisine. It features tender marinated beef skewered and grilled to perfection, then served with a flavorful peanut sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup coconut milk
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, cumin, turmeric, and coriander. Add the beef slices and marinate for at least 1 hour.
- Thread the marinated beef onto the soaked skewers.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the beef skewers for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
- While the beef is grilling, prepare the peanut sauce by combining peanut butter, coconut milk, lime juice, and seasoning with salt and pepper in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until smooth and heated through.
- Serve the grilled beef skewers with the peanut sauce on the side.
