Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken breast, cut into cubes
  • 5 shallots, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 red chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the shallots, garlic, red chilies, ground coriander, ground turmeric, ground cumin, kecap manis, vegetable oil, and salt to create a marinade.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  3. Thread the marinated chicken onto the soaked wooden skewers.
  4. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken skewers for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  5. Serve the Sate Manado hot with steamed rice and sambal for an authentic Indonesian meal.
